Yes; even your competitors’ cups! A small amount is recycled on-site, into beautiful, enduring products such as decorative tiles. We send the remainder to North American paper mills to be made into new consumer products. Be sure to display our door decal that invites new green-minded customers to bring the competitor’s empty cups to YOU to be recycled. They'll be most grateful, and most often grab a fresh cup while they are there :)

If you recycle now, chances are your recycling is being sorted here in North America, but shipped overseas for processing. Your landfill materials also may have quite a journey to make from the dumpster to their forever home as well, unless your landfill is located in your community.

We use carbon offset couriers, and we plant one tree for every shipment. This means choosing us to collect your materials is a net benefit to our beautiful shared planet. Even if we DID ship the waste right around the world, this study has confirmed that the carbon footprint of recycling is significantly less than landfilling and having to extract/grow new virgin materials from our precious shared planet. Just imagine the impact of clearcutting a forest and shipping logs across the world to be produced into paper goods (and then shipped back to us)… Or all of the resources that go into mining aluminum and manufacturing/transporting it, only to be used once and then sent to live forever in a landfill. Let’s keep our finite resources out of landfill and keep them in circulation!

Our shared, point-of-purchase eco fee is built to serve you and pay for our services.

We teach you how to implement a small eco fee on each single use cups you serve. It's most often 25¢, depending on how many materials you wish to send us. Customers may avoid this eco fee by choosing a ceramic mug or bringing their travel mug. A portion of this fee will cover the cost of our recycling service. The remaining portion of the eco fee stays with you. You can use this to cover the cost of your staff’s time to packing the materials, or heck, maybe even treat yourself to some LED lightbulbs or upgrade to low-flow taps!

When the waste gets to us, it is hand-sorted. A small amount is recycled on-site, into beautiful products you can purchase from us. Any material we receive that is not recyclable in North America (we know all the best recyclers, so that’s not much!) is sent to a Waste-to-Energy facility. We send less than 2% of our material to these facilities. They are state-of-the-art and exceed federal air quality standards, and use the materials as fuel stock to create energy which powers our homes and businesses. Our promise to you is Zero-to-Landfill.

You may also purchase our excess liquid receptacle (no more coffee in the bottom of your bags!), cup stacker, lid stacker, and other coffee-shop-specific recycling bins on our online store.
